Pesticides are poison. Chemical pesticides don’t discriminate between their target and non-target species. They have been linked to illness and death in people and wildlife populations.
Farming communities in the developing world are particularly vulnerable and are often on the receiving end of pesticides that have been banned from use in the developed world. Many chemical pesticides are long-lived in the environment: residues have been found in species in the high Arctic and Himalayas.
Pesticide use is contributing to the decline of vital insect pollinators which are crucial to our food production and way of life. EJF’s Pesticides Campaign aims to eradicate the use of toxic pesticides and their harmful effects on people and wildlife.
